The Russian Ministry of Defence has warned residents of Kyiv to vacate as it is planning massive bombardments in the Ukrainian capital.
The ministry had issued a statement on Tuesday warning Ukrainian civilians in Kyiv of its intention.
It said its armed forces were planning a high precision strike against technological centres of the Ukrainian Security Service and the 72nd main PsyOps centre in Kyiv.
The ministry urged Ukrainian citizens who are being used by nationalists to carry out provocations against Russia, as well as Kyiv residents residing near relay stations to leave their home.
They said the attacks were about to be carried out to prevent information attacks against Russia, according to BBC.
The ministry has also confirmed that all peaceful citizens of Kyiv could leave the capital of Ukraine without hindrance via Kyiv-Vasilkov road which is open and safe.
Earlier, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, warned in a video message that “the enemy is on the outskirts of the capital,” adding that the Ukrainian military is “preparing to defend Kyiv.”
“Our armed forces, Territorial Defense Forces, are fighting heroically for our land,” Klitschko said.
“Fortifications and checkpoints have been built at the entrances to the city. I ask everyone to keep calm. Do not go outside unnecessarily and stay in shelters in case of alarm,” Klitschko stated.
