Scores of terrorists killed in ambush after attacking Sabon-Rami village
Police in the central Nigerian state of Niger said they have killed scores of terrorists after they attacked Sabon-Rami village in Mashegu Local Government Area.
DSP Wasiu Abiodun, spokesman of the police, said the terrorists were killed when they ran into an ambush laid by the police tactical team and vigilantes, after raiding the village.
Abiodun, said on February 25 at about 1015 hours, information was received that armed bandits attacked Sahon-Rami village, killing three persons.
However, Police tactical teams and vigilante members were immediately mobilized to the area.
He explained that while the bandits were on their way trying to escape, they were engaged in a fierce gun battle by the tactical team.
Scores of the bandits were neutralised and others escaped with gunshot wounds into the forest.
However, the police could only recover two corpses of the terrorists killed in the gun battle.
Commissioner of Police, Monday Bala Kuryas, commended the gallantry of the tactical team and vigilante members.
