Skit Maker, Dan Bello, Accuses JIBWIS Leader Of Contract Fraud
Popular social media skit maker, Bello Habib Galadanci, known as Dan Bello, has accused Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, the leader of the Islamic group, Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), of involvement in a multi-million naira contract scam.
In a viral video, Dan Bello claimed that he, in collaboration with Bauchi-based investigative news platform Wikkitimes, uncovered significant financial irregularities tied to Lau and companies allegedly affiliated with JIBWIS.
However, JIBWIS swiftly denied the allegations in a statement posted on its Facebook page, describing them as false and misleading. The group accused Dan Bello of spreading misinformation to tarnish its leader’s reputation.
Dan Bello alleged that Sheikh Lau is linked to over 30 bank accounts and was involved in questionable financial transactions between 2021 and 2023.
He cited a specific case from December 19, 2022, where a company named M & A Integrated Services reportedly received over N130 million for the construction of five classrooms across Borno, Kaduna, and Plateau states.
According to him, despite receiving payment, no construction work was carried out, with photos showing old, dilapidated classrooms as proof of uncompleted projects.
In its rebuttal, JIBWIS maintained that the classroom project was a constituency project of Rep. Mukhtar Aliyu Betara, who had allegedly handed over the contract to the JIBWIS leader for supervision, as the schools were intended for the group.
Regarding the JIBWIS College of Education in Jega, the group clarified that the project was initiated by Senator Adamu Aliero and was fully executed and commissioned under his oversight.
JIBWIS further announced plans to pursue legal action against Dan Bello, challenging him to provide evidence in court.(Daily trust)
