The Coalition of Southern Kaduna Youth Groups has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Uba Sani, and Senator Sunday Marshall Katung for their roles in establishing the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, and the Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan, in Kaduna State.
In a related development, Southern Kaduna Muslim Ummah Development Association (SOKAMUDA) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, and the upgrading of Patrick Yakowa General Hospital, Kafanchan, into a Federal Medical Centre.
The association described the projects as turning points for the region, saying they would create new opportunities for education and healthcare. It noted that the university would provide youths with practical, world-class education, while the medical centre would enhance tertiary healthcare services.
Chairman of SOKAMUDA, Bala Musa, said the projects marked a new phase of development for Southern Kaduna. He called on the pioneer management teams to prioritise inclusivity, sustainability, and excellence in administration.
“We earnestly appeal to the pioneer principal officers of both the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, and the Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan, to collaborate with relevant stakeholders, embrace diversity, and implement best practices to ensure long-term success,” he said.
At a press conference held in Kaduna on Friday, Coordinator of Coalition of Southern Kaduna Youth Groups, Luke Augustine Duniya, praised the federal government’s efforts, describing the establishment of the two institutions as a dream come true for the people of Southern Kaduna.
Duniya noted that the youths would mobilise votes for President Tinubu, Governor Sani, and Senator Katung in the 2027 polls as a show of appreciation.
“To whom much is given, much is expected, and with the establishment of these two institutions – the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, and the Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan, we will mobilise for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, and Senator Sunday Marshall Katung ahead of the 2027 polls,” Duniya said.
President Tinubu had approved the establishment of the federal university in Southern Kaduna, with Vice President Shettima disclosing that there were ongoing discussions to establish a Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.
The Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, is expected to commence operations soon, with the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, directing that the university be captured in the 2025 budget for a September takeoff.
