Human rights activist and convener of #RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore, has said that the rogue police cameraman, Aku Victor Chiemerie, who stole his AI-powered Ray-Ban Meta eyeglasses during Monday’s #PoliceProtest at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, has deactivated his Facebook account.

Sowore, a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), who made this known on Thursday while giving an update on the matter, also said that the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who allegedly sent the rogue police cameraman, has also blocked him (Sowore) on Facebook.

He accused Adejobi and the police of desperately trying to avoid accountability but insisted they would not escape justice for their actions.

In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, Sowore noted that Chiemerie, who used the name “Vyktur McEntire Akunamatata” on Facebook, has since deactivated his account.

“Aku Victor Chiemerie, the Nigeria Police Force cameraman who stole my pair of Ray-Ban Meta AI-powered glasses during the historic #PoliceProtest on Monday, has now deactivated his Facebook account,” Sowore wrote.

“He had been operating under the name “Vyktur McEntire Akunamatata,” [but] before deactivation, several of his photos were captured and archived.”

Sowore vowed that efforts to conceal their crime would not stop justice from being served.

“Let it be known: the search for this national thief continues. No amount of hiding, deleting, or shielding will protect him from full accountability for his actions,” he stated.

SaharaReporters’ checks confirmed that the Facebook account bearing the name “Vyktur McEntire Akunamatata” has been taken down.

Sowore said that Adejobi blocked him on Facebook to prevent him (Sowore) from tagging the Force spokesperson on his Facebook posts about the stolen eyeglasses.

“Justice will catch up with him, and ACP Muyiwa Adejobi (who has also blocked me on Facebook, so I can’t tag him), the Force PPRO, who sent him,” Sowore wrote.

SaharaReporters had reported that Sowore’s AI-powered eyeglasses was stolen by a rogue police officer in mufti identified as Aku Victor Chiemerie, during a peaceful protest at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, raising grave concerns about the state of security and accountability in the nation.

The protest, held on Monday, July 21, 2025, was organised to demand improved welfare and retirement benefits for Nigerian police officers.

Sowore and other activists, alongside some retired police officers, staged a peaceful demonstration at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, also known as Louis Edet House, in Abuja.

The eyeglasses are not only medical but also embedded with artificial intelligence technology and carry sensitive private data.

On Wednesday, Sowore revealed that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, had confirmed the retrieval of the stolen AI-powered eyeglasses from the rogue officer.

He said that the CP, however, stated that he would not release the eyeglasses because they have a built-in camera.
