Popular singer Taylor Swift has claimed the top spot on Spotify Wrapped 2024, emerging as the most-streamed artist globally for the second consecutive year.
Swift’s chart-topping success this year comes on the back of her record-breaking album, The Tortured Poets Department, which racked up over 26.6 billion streams on the platform.
The album didn’t just dominate streaming numbers; it also set new Spotify records, including being the first album to surpass 300 million streams in a single day and crossing 1 billion streams within its first week of release.
Women rule the charts
This year has been a celebration of female artistry, with women claiming eight of the top ten spots on Spotify’s global albums chart. Following Swift, the lineup includes Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft, Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet, and Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito. Other big names like Ariana Grande, SZA, and Swift herself (with two additional albums) made the list.
