Teenager Asked To Do House Chores Reports His Father To Police For “Illegal Child Labour”

Growing up, we all had to help out in the house with a chore or two but a 14-year-0ld boy felt his parents were making him do ‘child labour by forcing him to do house chores.

The Chinese boy is reported to have gone to the police station to file a complaint against his father for taking away his smartphone and asking him to help around the house.

Seeing the punishment as unfair, the child snuck out of the house when his father was not looking and went to the police station to make the accusation.

Officers on duty were confused about the boy’s complaint and decide to accompany him home for a better understanding of the situation. When he told the boy’s father what his son had accused him of, the flabbergasted parent proceeded to explain what had happened, that he simply took the boy’s phone away and made him do house chores.

Under Chinese law, housework is not constituted as child labour so thankfully the father was in no trouble. However, the police officer advised the father to discipline his son adding that taking his smartphone away for a while seemed like a good idea.

To that, the boy replied:

“Do you really think I only have that mobile phone? That’s so naive of you!”

The teenager has since been bashed on social media for acting unfilial while the parents are advised to talk to their child before he does something worse.

This case is similar to that of the man who sued his parents for giving birth to him without his permission.

The man identified as Raphael Samuel argued that despite his “great relationship” with his family, he cannot bear the thought that giving birth to him is synonymous with “kidnapping and slavery.”

Samuel who is originally from Mumbai and is an “anti-natalist” argues that it is unfair to subject a child to the “rigmarole” of life because their parents chose to have fun.

In an interview with The Print, he said

“I love my parents, and we have a great relationship, but they had me for their joy and their pleasure.
‘”My life has been amazing, but I don’t see why I should put another life through the rigamarole of school and finding a career, especially when they didn’t ask to exist.”
