‘That’s what Christ would have done’ — reactions to Catholic Church’s donation of its hospitals
The donation of hospitals by the Catholic Bishop Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has become a topical issue on social media.
At the daily briefing of the presidential task force on COVID-19 on Monday, Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation, had asked state governments to take advantage of the facilities which was offered as isolation centres for COVID-19 patients.
Many Nigerians have been praising the church, which they said has led by example.
Below are reactions from Twitter and Facebook.
Not complaining about closed churches. Not amplifying baseless conspiracy theories described by some scientists as moronic. Not criticising the federal/state govts daily. But actually helping to solve problems. God bless the Catholic Church. https://t.co/eL2XGLvFf4

This is why I will always be a fan of the Catholic Church, they gave us the most affordable schools across Nigeria at a time, for almost zero cost… This is what Christ would have done during a Pandemic – I have to Stan…. https://t.co/mK8VKlacKo

Now, that's how to be a leader of men. So proud that the biggest Christian group in the world stepped up to the plate. Way to show how Christ would have acted if He was amongst us today. https://t.co/q1VpshJQWi

Kudos to the Catholic Church …
Instead of throwing tantrums on why public Mass has not started, they decided to make a difference👏👏👏👏👏
Proudly Catholic. https://t.co/QlTzkqBrHC— Jessy Jackson (@JessicaEgbedi) May 11, 2020
If Jesus Christ suddenly showed up on earth, he would be found inside a Catholic Church. https://t.co/JvNjuBRH5B
