“Our comfy Boeing 777 aircraft live at the Gatwick Airport, London, (the United Kingdom). This means so much to us and reaffirms our trail-blazing status as a leading airline out of Africa,” Air Peace wrote.

Those words were put on their X (Twitter) handle at exactly 9: 55 A.M. today, Saturday, March 30.

This maiden flight is coming four months after Air Peace’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Allen Onyema, announced that the airline had successfully obtained the Foreign Carrier Operator Permit and Third Country Operator Permit. This was in November last year.

The permits means it is qualified to operate flights to Europe and the UK.

However, four months is short compared to seven years. That is how far back a Nigerian airline reactivated the famous Lagos-London route.

In 2017, Med-View Airline became the last indigenous carrier to operate on the route.

Earlier, Air Peace announced: “When our wide-body, luxury Boeing 777 took off earlier today enroute to London, Gatwick.

“London service has commenced and we’re delighted to have achieved yet another feat in our drive to continually provide peaceful connectivity across cities.

“A big thank you to everyone that contributed to the success of this launch.”
