Tinubu is an old war horse, he’ll win 2023 presidency – El-rufai

Elrufai

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has described the APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as an old war horse who would win the 2023 presidency.

He also wrote off the presidential ambition of Dr. Peter Obi, saying the 2023 presidency is a two-horse race between Atiku Abubakar and Tinubu.

El-Rufai, in an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, said he was confident that the APC would win the 2023 presidency.

He said even though Obi would make impact in the East by sharing the votes of the PDP, he had no chance of winning the presidential poll.

“I am confident that we are going to win, but you know when you are going into an election, you don’t become overconfident or take any chances until the last vote is cast and winner announced.

“But we know Atiku Abubakar, we have defeated him before. We know him very well, we know his network, his capability and we are going to prepare to win by the grace of God and should we underestimate him? No.

“As regard to other parties, I think this is likely going to be a two-horse race. NNPP, Kwankwaso is likely to canibalise some of our votes in Kano and maybe Jigawa and some part of Katsina and Peter Obi is going to canibalise PDP votes in the Southeast.

“But we will prevail in the end because we have the largest footprint, but the other people you are putting on the screen are neither here or there. My brother Sowore, good luck to him, maybe he will get 30,000 votes.

“But it is a major race between APC and PDP and these two parties, NNPP and Labour Party are likely to canibalise the votes of PDP in some states, this is our position, but we are doing this analysis very carefully down to polling unit level and we will come up with a strategy to win,” El-Rufai stated.

According to El-Rufai, “Senator Bola Tinubu is an old war horse, he has fought us in opposition when I was minister with Obasanjo’s government, we know him, he is formidable, he is courageous, he fights to the end and I am confident that by the time he picked his running mate, it will be clear who is going to win this election.”
