Amidst the escalating violence that has gripped various parts of Nigeria, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed deep concern over the Federal Government’s apparent detachment from the crises plaguing the nation.

In a statement on X, Atiku lamented over the recent tragic bloodshed in Yobe, which claimed numerous lives, and the widespread destruction across villages in Katsina, Sokoto, and other regions in the North-West and North-Central areas.

Atiku criticized the government for being preoccupied with trivial matters while the country faces severe turmoil.

He pointed out that the unrest extends to the South, where Boko Haram’s activities and political discord are further unsettling the nation’s peace.

“Despite these grave challenges, the Federal Government preoccupies itself with stifling dissent, resorting to draconian measures such as imposing death sentences on protesters.

“The atrocity in Yobe is a stark testament to the failure of the current security framework, demanding immediate and comprehensive reform,” Atiku stated.

He also called for the Tinubu administration to show a stronger commitment to safeguarding life and property across Nigeria, emphasizing the urgent need for effective security measures to address the ongoing crisis.

“My heart goes out to the victims of these horrific attacks, and I fervently implore the Tinubu administration to demonstrate a heightened commitment to safeguarding life and property across the nation,” he added.
