Tinubu’s supporters commence preparations for 2027 elections, initiates talks with northern leaders
A report by Daily Sun indicates that political foot soldiers who worked for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2023 electioneering campaigns have started reaching out to orthern leaders and the governors in the region ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
According to the report, the supporters are under the auspices of Disciples of Jagaban (DOJ) and Yoruba Welfare Group.
Already, a meeting was held in one of the popular military clubs by the groups penultimate Sunday in Kaduna.
“We insist Tinubu is not perfect. But he need that unity to successfully win the major factor that defeated our progress in the past. The meeting based on how to strengthen the relationship between the north and south against future elections, especially 2027 election,” the group said.
The DOJ National Coordinator, Comrade Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje said after the meeting that, “Politics must remain the strongest weapon to bind all Nigerians together irrespective of our ethnicity and religion”.
Alawuje recalled, “We will continue appreciating The Arewa Consultative Forum together with all Northern political leaders for 2023 victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Arewa stood with Tinubu, they followed him just like the way the head follow the neck.
“We as well appreciate all individuals from other ethnics and Religions that stood with us before, during and after the general elections. They all did that for the better future of this country with all intents to inculcate the spirit of love, unity and harmony amongst Nigeria and Nigerians”.
Alawuje urged other ethnic groups who believe only in sentimental approaches in Nigeria to stop it, saying, “Ethnicity is a universal truth and fact which no one can manipulate. An Hausa man will forever remain an Hausa man. An Igbo will remain Igbo, and Yoruba will never change to become Hausa or Igbo, likewise others.
“We have many aspects that bind Nigerians together. What binds us together are more than what divides us as a people. Whoever is trying to disconnect this country’s togetherness is an enemy of this nation.
“For those who believed Nigerians has designed political scripts to stop them from ruling this country, It’s not true at all. They should rather redeem themselves and make themselves worthy of the position by genuinely aligning with other ethnic and religious groups across the country because no one ethnicity or religion can survive without others.
“Nigeria belongs to all of us. Unity, love and harmony is seriously needed amongst us, irrespective of wherever we come from.
“Some of us appreciate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for leading Yoruba sons and daughters out of sectional and regional political system and led us to national politics in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
“Some of us started following him and developed more love for him, seeing this laudable gesture from him. In fact, that was one of what gave birth to the popular support group today called Disciples of Jagaban.”
