A 34-year-old mother-of-five, Alice Webb, has tragically passed away following a Brazilian Bum Lift (BBL) procedure, marking the first recorded death from such a surgery in the United Kingdom.

Webb, an aesthetic practitioner at Crystal Clear in Wotton-under-Edge, died at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital on Monday, 23rd September 2024.

Authorities have arrested two individuals, including one of the surgeons involved in the procedure, on suspicion of manslaughter, according to the Daily Mail.

The Major Crime Investigation Team is leading the investigation, and specially trained officers are currently supporting Webb’s bereaved family.

Ashton Collins, Director of Save Face, a national register for accredited cosmetic practitioners, confirmed Webb’s case is the first fatality caused by a non-surgical BBL in the UK.

“This tragedy highlights the growing concerns around these cosmetic procedures,” Collins said in an interview with the BBC.

In the wake of the tragedy, a close friend of Webb, Abigail Irwin, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise £3,000 for Webb’s partner, Dane, and their five children: Delsie (15), Preete (13), Gracie (12), Nylie (10), and Clarie (7).

“I am hoping to raise as many funds as we can to support Dane and their five beautiful children during this very difficult time,” Irwin said in her campaign statement, describing Webb as a dedicated professional who cared deeply for her clients. “Alice was a beautiful person inside and out.”

The investigation into Webb’s death continues, with her loss sending shockwaves across the beauty and aesthetics community.
