Tricycle Rider Rescues New-Baby-Boy Sold For N2m In Port Harcourt
A tricycle operator has rescued a new born baby that was sold for N2 mil.lion from a baby factory at Port Harcourt in Rivers State while being delivered to the buyer in Delta State.
The two female syndicates, namely, Tessi Ikechukwu, and Lauretta Akomen, were said to have boarded a tricycle but ran out of luck in the process of handing over the baby to the buyer.
Preliminary investigation at the police command headquarters in Asaba, has since revealed that one of the suspects Lauretta Akomen, a 38 years old woman bought the baby for N2 million from a traditional home, located in Port harcourt where they harbour teenage girls, and got men to have sex with them till they are pregnant, after which they sell the babies to people looking for children.
The tricycle operator who allegedly overheard the discussion between the suspects, who were his passengers, diverted to a nearby police station instead of the agreed destination.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, who narrated how the buying and selling was foiled in Asaba yesterday said it happened at Ekpan police station.
According to him, four women boarded the tricycle but on reaching the popular Efurrun Roundabout, two alighted.
