Two killed in fresh Boko Haram bomb attack in Borno
Two people have reportedly been killed in a bomb blast which happened along the Damboa–Maiduguri highway.
The victims, Blessings Luka and Gideon Bitterleaf, were said to be staff of the Damboa Local Education Authority (LEA).
A counter-terrorism expert, Zagazola Makama, said the victims were travelling to Maiduguri from Damboa when the explosion occurred.
An eyewitness said the victims were seated in the front of the Toyota Hiace bus transporting mangoes to Maiduguri when the vehicle stepped on an Improvised Explosive Device.
Sources said that the device, suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram terrorists, exploded instantly, killing the duo.
An official of the Damboa Local Government Area, who pleaded anonymity, identified the victims as hard-working education officials.
The scene of the incident has since been cordoned off by security operatives while an investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of the acts
