UNIBEN Calls For Calm Over Final Year Student’s Murder
Authorities of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) have called for calm over Monday night’s gruesome murder of a final year student of the institution, who was popularly known as “Mayor” in his hall of residence.
A statement released yesterday by the institution’s public relations officer, Dr Benedicta Ehanire, who withheld the real name and department of the late student, condemned the killing of Mayor.
While commiserating with the family and colleagues of the late student, Ehanire pleaded with other students to be calm as the police and other security agencies were working hard to fish out and arrest the killer.
The university spokesperson said the authorities are also working closely with the internal security units in ensuring that such dastardly incident does not occur again within the school’s premises.
Meanwhile, security personnel had commenced investigation into the killing with a view to apprehending those behind the dastardly act. As at the time of filing in this report calm is gradually returning back to the Ivory tower.
