The special visitation panel set up to investigate the crisis in the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has called for the submission of memoranda to aid its assignment.

A circular by the panel’s Secretary, Mrs. Grace Ekanem, reads: “The university community and all stakeholders are invited to submit their memoranda on any of the terms of reference.

“All submissions should be sealed in envelopes and clearly marked according to their terms of reference (that is, TOR 1 or TOR 1-5) and addressed to the Secretary, Special Visitation Panel.

“Memorandum should be submitted to the panel or not before 2 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2020, at the Council Chambers of the university.”

The panel, chaired by Prof. Tukur Sa’ad, has two weeks to complete its assignment, taking off on August 31, 2020.

Other members of the panel are: Prof. Ikenna Onyido, Mr. Victor Onuoha, Prof. Ekanem Braide, Prof. Adamu Usman, and Chief Jimoh Bankole.

The panel’s terms of reference include reviewing the Governing Council’s investigation into the finances of the university since 2017; examining whether Oluwatoyin Ogundipe’s removal and Omololu Soyombo’s appointment followed due process; recommending sanctions for officers found culpable; and steps that would restore peace to the institution.
