US 2020: House Speaker, Pelosi endorses Joe Biden to unseat Trump
United States House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi has endorsed Joe Biden as president.
She made her declaration for the former vice president on Monday.
Pelosi stated that Biden can help guide the U.S out of the Coronavirus crisis.
The House Speaker eulogized Biden as she recalled his efforts in recent months.
“As we face Coronavirus, Joe has been a voice of reason and resilience, with a clear path to lead us out of this crisis,” Pelosi said in a video.
“When our nation faced the Great Recession, it was Joe Biden who led the implementation — and the accountability — of the Recovery Act, helping create and save millions of jobs.
“When the Democratic Congress was passing the Affordable Care Act, Joe Biden was a partner for progress in the White House and also championed the Cancer Moonshot.”
Pelosi stressed that she was proud to endorse Joe Biden, whom she called a leader, personification of hope, courage, values, authenticity and integrity.
“With so much at stake, we need the enthusiasm, invigoration and participation of all Americans — up and down the ballot, and across the country”, Pelosi added.
In mid-April, former President, Barack Obama endorsed Biden.
One day before, Bernie Sanders, Biden’s main rival, endorsed him too.
Sanders decision means Biden will emerge as presidential candidate of the Democratic Party unopposed.
Early March, former New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg suspended his campaign and announced support for Biden.
Interestingly, Trump in April 2019, predicted that Biden and Sanders would be the two finalists of the Dems.
“I believe it will be Crazy Bernie Sanders vs. Sleepy Joe Biden as the two finalists to run against maybe the best Economy in the history of our country (and many other great things)! I look forward to facing whoever it may be. May God Rest Their Souls!”, Trump tweeted.
A few days later, Trump returned to Twitter to mock Biden after the former VP kicked off his campaign.
“Welcome to the race Sleepy Joe. I only hope you have the intelligence, long in doubt, to wage a successful primary campaign. It will be nasty – you will be dealing with people who truly have some very sick & demented ideas. But if you make it, I will see you at the Starting Gate!,” the American leader tweeted
