Tesla owner, Elon Musk, has revealed that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) uncovered that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) spent $59 million last week to house illegal immigrants in luxury hotels in New York City.

The revelation follows an executive order issued by President Donald Trump in late January, which established the FEMA Review Council.

The directive aimed to optimise FEMA’s spending, improve management efficiency, and eliminate political biases within the agency.

Musk stated that the expenditure violated federal law and defied the President’s executive order, which prioritised disaster relief for American citizens. He added that a demand to recover the funds would be issued immediately.

He tweeted, “The @DOGE team just discovered that FEMA sent $59M LAST WEEK to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants.

“Sending this money violated the law and is in gross insubordination to the President’s executive order.

“That money is meant for American disaster relief and instead is being spent on high-end hotels for illegals!

“A clawback demand will be made today to recoup those funds.”
