UTME: JAMB rakes N849m in one week
AS prospective candidates for the 2019 Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME continue registration, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, said it has generated the total sum of N849 million in one week.
The money which the board explained in its weekly news bulletin, was raised from the sale of the UTME registration and some sources of income generation among which are sale and use of its electronic facilities, was made last week, between February 15 and 21,2019.
But JAMB said it coughed out the sum of N97,052,298 million to settle issues bothering on payment of taxes, utilities, staff claims and some other issues within the period.
The tertiary institutions examination body specifically said it generated N758,000,000 from UTME registration;N24,073,710 as service charges by the CBT centres; N55,392,973 from the use of its electronic facilities; N3,162,720 from consultancy service just as it said N16,000 was from other sources.
In the bulletin, the boad disclosed that so far, over one million candidates have registered to sit for its 2019 UTME just as it said it would not postpone the examination for any candidate that have biometric issue.
it said:”Any candidate whose fingers could not be captured during registration at the CBT centre, must visit Abuja for his/her registration.” (Vanguard)
