We Got Money Ritual Guidelines From Facebook, Say Ogun Teenagers
Four teenagers arrested for murdering and burning the head of Sofiat Kehinde for alleged money rituals on Monday revealed how they were inspired by the guidelines they read on Facebook.
Daily Trust reports that there was confusion on Saturday in Oke Aregba community in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, when some teenage boys were caught burning the head of a girl, said to be in a relationship with one of them, for alleged money ritual.
Four suspects including the boyfriend of the victim were immediately apprehended by the police.
They were Wariz Oladeinde, Abdulgafar Lukman, Mustekeem Balogun, and Soliu Majekodunmi who was said to be the boyfriend of the girl. And on Monday, the police paraded the suspects at the State Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
They explained that they learnt how to make money ritual on Facebook.
Sofiat’s boyfriend, Majekodunmi stated that when the victim visited him on Friday, he strangulated and beheaded her immediately with the support from other accomplices.
He explained they had contributed money and purchased other ingredients needed for the ritual while awaiting for the day they would pounce on the lady, who was introduced to him, just in December, last year.
He blamed Mustekeem as being the arrowhead of the heinous act, saying he was the one who brought the guidelines from Facebook and pestered the group of friends to carry out the act.
The prime suspect told newsmen that he regretted his action and urged other youths who were eager to make money quickly to wait for their time.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, while parading the suspects at the police command, Eleweran, Abeokuta said, blamed the incident on bad parenting and urged religious leaders to ensure they played relevant roles towards restoring the culture of hard work and morals into the society.
