The All Progressives Congress has said it will not manipulate state institutions to win elections like the Peoples Democratic Party.
The ruling party said the PDP leaders were being hunted by their past and had resorted to making spurious allegations by themselves and through a Coalition of United Political Parties.
The APC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu stated this while reacting to a statement made by CUPP on some police postings, particularly in Kwara State ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
The statement read, “Ordinarily, the All Progressives Congress wouldn’t respond to a group of charlatans running errands for the embattled Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki. However, since the group has issued the statement as a decoy for him, we would direct our reactions directly to their paymaster.
“For the umpteenth time, we would reiterate that the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, and indeed other senior party leaders mentioned in the infantile statement are too busy with the Next Level campaigns and engagements to be involved in the childish conspiracies and spurious allegations contained in the statement.
“It should also be noted that it is not within the rights or responsibility of any political organisation or group to dictate to agencies empowered by laws how to deliver on specific mandates.
“We believe that leaders, with a modicum of honour, should not tread on the path of cowardice by hiding under nebulous groups to make unsubstantiated allegations. However, we understand that people’s fears are oftentimes their own weakness.”
APC said it knew that the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, was behind the allegation.
“It is clear that Senator Saraki, the PDP, and their cronies are recollecting their usual practice of manipulating state institutions to achieve their political ends and are now scared of their own shadows. Let it be known that our party, APC, has not copied such dubious template.
“We reiterate that a new and progressive Kwara beckons. Through their votes, the Kwara electorate will decide on the new political direction in the state. Kwara State has suffered enough backwardness and under-development resulting from the selfish grip of a self-appointed leader in the state. In the next election, the will of the Kwaran electorate will prevail. O to ge!” (Punch)
