Wedding Guests Murder: 6 Suspects Still At Large – Police Commissioner
The Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has revealed that six of the suspected killers of wedding travelers, murdered in Mangun community of Mangu Local Government Area of the state, are still at large.
State Police Commissioner, Emmanuel Adesina, disclosed this while briefing journalist.
He explained that the briefing was meant to keep the public abreast of developments in the case, as the investigation had been concluded.
Daily Trust recalls that thirteen travelers were killed, and many others were injured while on their way to the Kwa community in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau.
The victims, comprising 32 men, women, and children, were traveling in an 18-seater bus from Basawa community in Sabon Gari Local Government Area, Kaduna State, to attend a wedding ceremony when they encountered the assailants.
On Thursday, the police said 22 suspects had been arrested but only 20 were arraigned because the remaining two suspects were below 18 years.
On Friday, the 20 suspects were arraigned before state high court 10 sitting in Jos on four-counts -charge including criminal conspiracy, causing Grievous Hurt, mischief by Fire, armed robbery and culpable homicide.
The presiding judge, justice Boniface Ngyon, remanded the suspects and adjourned the matter to October 13, 2025.
Giving update on the incident at the headquarters of the command, the commissioner disclosed that six more suspects were still at large.
He added that the command would continue to hunt for them until they are arrested, reiterating that the suspects were arrested after a thorough investigation by the command.
“I am pleased to announce to you that due to the diligent and swift operation of our men, we have arrested Twenty – Two (22) suspects, while Six (6) suspects are still at large. I wish to use this opportunity to assure the good and peace loving people of Plateau State, that the Command under my leadership is doing everything within the ambits of our constitutional powers, to ensure that all those involved in the perpetration of this evil and inhuman act are arrested and made to face the full weight of the law, “ the commissioner added.
Adesina while assuring that justice will be served, called on all Plateau citizens, especially the youths, to avoid taking laws into their hands, and report suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station or any other security agency.
