West Brom shown strong interest in former Super Eagles skipper

Semi Ajayi’s West Brom shown strong interest in former Super Eagles skipper John Obi Mikel.

The 33-year-old Nigeria legend is currently without a club having left Turkish Super Lig outfit Trabzonspor by mutual consent in March.

According to Sky Sports claim that Sky Bet Championship club West Bromwich Albion are currently working on a deal to sign experienced former Chelsea midfielder Mikel on a free transfer.

Mikel has been linked with a move to Serie A’s newly promoted team Benevento, Brazilian Serie A side, Botafogo and Mexican clubs C.F. Monterrey and Tigres UANL also entered the race to sign him too.

Ajayi’s West Brom side are currently second in the Sky Bet Championship and look well placed to secure a return to the Premier League following a two-season absence from the top flight.

Mikel enjoyed a trophy-laden 11 years at Chelsea earlier in his career, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, and Europa League.
