Popular Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has taken to Instagram to share an emotional post in support of fellow actor and comedian, James Omiyinka, widely known as Baba Ijesha.
Baba Ijesha was sentenced to 16 years jail term last year after being found guilty of sexual assault.
In his heartfelt message, Fabiyi expressed his fear of potential injustice and called for a thorough examination of the case. He implored that individuals responsible for organizing the crime should not escape justice while Baba Ijesha bears the brunt of the punishment.
Fabiyi wrote, “May we NOT be AMBUSHED INTO MISFORTUNE to the extent that those who criminally organized the crime will get a pat on the back by the law. There are too many cover-ups and extreme wickedness in your case that is still giving me sleepless nights.”
The actor showed unwavering support for Baba Ijesha‘s claims of innocence, emphasizing that throughout the police investigation and court trial, he maintained that he did not commit the severe charges of having sex with a child or penetration (defilement). Fabiyi believes that divine intervention played a role in Baba Ijesha not being found guilty of these particular charges.
Fabiyi assured him that the sentencing is not final as an appeal is in progress. He expressed trust in the judiciary and its commitment to upholding integrity when necessary.
Furthermore, Fabiyi emphasized that the principles of justice must be upheld in every sane society, condemning entrapment, child abuse, rape, sexual abuse, miscarriage of justice, oppression, human rights violations, torture, domestic violence, tampering with police investigation, and parental negligence.
Fabiyi offered his prayers and support to Baba Ijesha, encouraging him to stay strong during this challenging time. He reinforced the belief that only the truth can set anyone free, and expressed his hope that Baba Ijesha, his children, and all others would not fall into traps set by wicked and evil individuals.
