Wizkid has reportedly become the first African artiste to surpass 20 billion global audio streams across on-demand platforms.
The milestone was reported by ChartMasters, a leading music data tracking organisation, which calculates streams from both solo tracks and collaborations.
The singer’s 2016 hit ‘One Dance’ with Drake and Kyla remains his most-streamed song, amassing over 3.6 billion streams on Spotify alone.
The track also holds a Guinness World Record as the first song in Spotify history to reach 1 billion streams.
Other major hits contributing to Wizkid’s streaming dominance include:

- ‘Boom’ (173,431,856 streams)
- ‘Call Me Everyday’ (165,758,473 streams)
- ‘Essence’ (remix) (160,887,523 streams)
- ‘Come Closer’ (155,397,040 streams)
In August 2023, the Grammy winner received the BRIT Billion award for earning over one billion streams in the United Kingdom.
Born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, Wizkid, 34, rose to prominence with ‘Superstar’, his debut album in 2011 and is often referred to as one of Afrobeats ‘Big 3’.
He has released other successful albums, including ”Ayo’ (2014), ‘Sound from the Other Side’ (2017), and ‘More Love, Less Ego’ (2022).
He also holds the title of the best-selling Afrobeats artist of all time, with over 65 million units sold worldwide
Wizkid’s last album ‘Morayo’ was released on November 22, 2024, as a tribute to Jane Dolapo Balogun, his late mother, who passed away in August 2023.
