Yoruba Can’t Have Oba In Diaspora, Aare Adams Warns %Post Title

The Aare Ona Kakanfo Of Yoruba Land,  Iba Ganiyu Adams has declared that it was a taboo for anyone to parade himself as Yoruba monarch outside the territory of the founded by the descendants of Oduduwa, the progenitor of the tribe.

He made the comment at his residence while reacting to questions from TheLead Online alongside other journalists on Thursday.

The generalissimo of the Yorubas frowned at some persons he termed as fraud stars parading themselves as beaded monarchs overseas using the title to defraud many Nigerians.

He said apart from countries like Benin Republic, Togo and some other countries like America and Brazil “where we have Yorubas towns, any other place where we have people parading themselves as Obas was an aberration.

“For you to become a Yoruba Oba, you must preside over a kingdom founded by a Yoruba ancestor. King cannot exist without subject too.

“So it is fraud for anyone to wake up to start wearing fake bearded crown in Europe just because he resides there and start addressing himself as an Oba from Yoruba Kingdom.

“I have instructed our coordinators across Europe and other continents to issue statements in that regard and we shall oppose it to the latter.

“Yoruba Obas are not cheap. It is not a position to be occupied by opportunists” Aare Adams warned.
