2023: PDP Shifts NEC Meeting Over Disagreement On Zoning
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has adjourned its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting to 8pm on Wednesday.
The Caucus meeting also billed for this morning was abruptly ended and shifted to 4pm.
Daily Trust gathered that the postponed meeting has to do with the inability of party organs to agree on a common position to take the NEC meeting.
Some of the Governors on the platform of the party met earlier in the day at the Benue Governors’ lodge in Asokoro.
A source said the Dr Iyorchia Ayu-led National working Committee (NWC) is working round the clock to convince leaders of the party on a common front to take to the NEC.
The Governors and caucus were yet to agree on the zoning of the presidential ticket of the party, the main issue expected to be tackled at the NEC.
After meeting for over two hours, the Governors, who were later joined by the caucus members, agreed that the meeting should be adjourned for further consultations.
Consequently, the party said: “The National Caucus meeting is now slated for 4pm; Board of Trustees meeting at 7pm, and NEC meeting at 8pm today (Wednesday).”
