Court refuses to stop Mark, Aregbesola from assuming ADC leadership

Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has declined to grant an application seeking to stop the former Senate President, David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The judge gave the ruling in an ex-parte motion filed by a former Deputy National Chairman of ADC, Mr. Nafiu-Bala Gombe, and moved by his lawyer, Michael Agber.
Gombe, in the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1819/2025, sought three reliefs.
He asked the court to grant an order of interim injunction restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising Mark and Aregbesola as national chairman and national secretary of the ADC pending the hearing of the motion on notice.
He also sought an order of interim injunction restraining Mark, Aregbesola, and their cohorts from parading themselves as national chairman and national secretary of the party.

The plaintiff equally sought an order restraining INEC from recognising and or dealing with the duo.
Rather, Justice Nwite directed Gombe to put all the defendants on notice to show cause why the motion should not be granted.
He, therefore, adjourned the matter till September 15 for the defendants to show cause.
The ruling was delivered on September 4, and the certified true copy of the order was made available to journalists on Thursday.
The opposition coalition in July appointed Mark as the ADC interim national chairman and the ex-Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, as national secretary.
