Bolt surpasses Uber, inDrive to claim No. 1 spot in Nigeria mobility market

Bolt has emerged as Nigeria’s most downloaded travel and mobility app, overtaking global rivals Uber and inDrive to cement its dominance in one of Africa’s fastest-growing transport markets.

The ranking, released by digital intelligence company Sensor Tower, places Bolt at the top of Nigeria’s mobility sector, confirming its popularity among millions of riders who rely on the platform for affordable and reliable transportation.

Bolt, has over 200 million customers across more than 50 countries. It first entered the Nigerian market in 2016 as Taxify, launching in Lagos. Since then, the company has expanded rapidly to 33 cities nationwide, offering Nigerians affordable and reliable mobility options.

The recent data places Bolt ahead of other global competitors, including Uber and inDrive, reaffirming its leading position in one of Africa’s largest mobility markets.

As part of its ongoing investment in innovation and customer experience, Bolt recently introduced the Family Profile feature in Nigeria. This new functionality allows users to manage and pay for rides for up to nine other people from a single account, improving convenience, safety, and financial oversight, particularly for families and caregivers.
