The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has visited the Awolowo family to commiserate with them over the death of Mr. Segun Awolowo Jr., describing the loss as both personal and national.

During the condolence visit, the governor was received by the widow of the deceased, his children, his elderly mother, Hajia Abba Folawiyo, and other members of the Awolowo family.

In a post via his verified X handle on Sunday, the governor noted that the atmosphere was deeply emotional, reflecting the magnitude of the loss felt by all who knew Awolowo.

He described the late Segun Awolowo Jr. as a fine gentleman—intelligent, warm, respectful, and effortlessly gracious, adding that his death has left a profound void.

“We received the news of his passing with heavy hearts. To us, this is not only a national loss but a personal one. We will always cherish the memories we shared with him,” the governor said.

He extended his condolences to Awolowo’s wife, children, the entire Awolowo family, and all who mourn him, praying for the repose of his soul and for God’s comfort upon those he left behind.
