JUST IN: Tinubu Assigns New Appointment to Governor Uzodimma
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as the Renewed Hope Ambassador, ahead of the national rollout of the Federal Government’s Ward Development Programme.
According to a statement on Tuesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Governor Uzodimma will also serve as Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement and Mobilisation, with the appointment taking immediate effect.
Under his new role, the governor, who is also Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, will collaborate with the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership and governors nationwide to promote the Tinubu administration’s programmes and achievements.
He will be tasked with fostering harmony, inclusiveness, and strategic coordination across party structures, while mobilising grassroots support.
President Tinubu noted that APC governors will collectively serve as “Ambassadors of Hope,” working alongside Governor Uzodimma to highlight and disseminate the administration’s milestones since taking office in May 2023.
Highlighting key policy gains under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the President cited seven consecutive months of easing inflation to 16.05 per cent in October, stabilisation of the exchange rate, and a rise in foreign reserves to over $46 billion, up from $32 billion, compared with a net reserve of $4 billion inherited in 2023.
He added that investor confidence has rebounded, with increasing foreign direct and portfolio investments, especially in the oil and gas sector, alongside a growing stock market and economic diversification driven by solid minerals.
The government’s liberalised student loan scheme has benefited over 700,000 recipients, while passport processing timelines have been reduced nationwide to under one week.
President Tinubu tasked Governor Uzodimma with ensuring that Nigerians in all communities are aware of these achievements and fully understand the administration’s progress under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
