Eedris Abdulkareem Loses Social Media Accounts After Song On Trump

Meta-owned platforms Facebook and Instagram have suspended the accounts of Nigerian rapper and activist Eedris Abdulkareem, days after he released a track titled “Open Letter to Donald Trump.”

Checks by Daily Trust on Sunday night showed that the musician’s pages on both platforms were no longer accessible, though Meta has not issued an explanation for the suspension.

Abdulkareem’s new song, released in November 2025 under his Lakreem Entertainment label, is framed as a direct appeal to US President Donald Trump.

However, the track focuses mainly on Nigeria’s internal challenges, criticising corruption, insecurity and governance failures.

The rapper uses the “letter” format to draw global attention to the struggles faced by ordinary Nigerians.

In the song, Abdulkareem alleges that Nigerian political leaders are enriching themselves while citizens contend with widespread hardship. He highlights rising cases of kidnappings, killings and terrorism, portraying the country’s security situation as increasingly dire.

“Open Letter to Donald Trump” continues Abdulkareem’s long history of socially conscious and confrontational music. His 2004 hit “Jaga Jaga,” which condemned corruption and misrule, was banned from broadcast during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

In April 2025, the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) also prohibited the airplay of his song “Tell Your Papa.”

The directive—signed by Susan Obi, Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring—cited alleged violations of broadcasting standards and warned all TV and radio stations in Nigeria not to play the record.

Despite recurring controversies and periodic censorship, Abdulkareem remains one of Nigeria’s most outspoken musical voices, frequently using his platform to challenge political authorities and spotlight issues of injustice and inequality.(Daily trust)
