Bandits Hit Zamfara Community, Kill 1, Abduct 5
Bandits on Saturday night attacked Fananawa village in Bukuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing one person and kidnapping several others.
The Bukuyum communities have, within the past month, suffered repeated attacks by armed groups, including a recent bomb blast.
A resident, Malam Sani, said the bandits stormed the village at night and operated until dawn.
“The marauders entered the village, killed one person, kidnapped seven others and shot another who sustained serious injuries. He has been referred to the Teaching Hospital in Sokoto,” Sani said.
The Zamfara State Police Command confirmed the incident but put the number of abducted victims at five.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said police personnel had launched a rescue operation and expressed confidence that it would be successful.
“Our personnel are currently on a rescue mission, and very soon you will hear a success story,” Abubakar said.
“The bandits entered the Fananawa community, killed one person, kidnapped five and injured one. We are doing everything possible to rescue the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.”(Daily trust)
