“2027 Will Be Easier Than 2023 for Me” — Otti Boasts Ahead of Election
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has expressed strong confidence about the 2027 governorship election, saying the contest will be far less demanding for him than the 2023 race.
The governor said his confidence is rooted in what his administration has delivered so far, stressing that performance, not promises, will shape his next campaign.
According to him, the situation has changed significantly since he assumed office.
Otti spoke at the 2025 Aro Day celebration held in Arochukwu Local Government Area, where he addressed political conversations already building around the next general election.
He described the growing tension over 2027 as unnecessary and premature.
“2027 is still far away, but a lot of people have started killing themselves before 2027 comes.
“We are not worried about 2027 because we have a mandate to deliver to our people in four years. We’ve done 30 months, so we still have a long way to go,” Otti stated.
The governor explained that his administration is focused on governance rather than political calculations.
He said his government is concentrating on fulfilling the mandate given by Abia residents, rather than engaging in early campaign battles.
Gov Otti added that unlike the last election cycle, he would not be approaching the people with campaign assurances alone.
Instead, he said visible outcomes of governance would speak on his behalf.
“Just like it happened in 2023, 2027 will even be smoother, I can assure you. Why am I so confident? I’m confident because in 2023, we were selling promises, but now there are one or two things we can point to.”
Otti maintained that his administration still has time to deepen its impact across the state.
The governor said the remaining months of his tenure would be used to consolidate reforms and expand development efforts.
