The Kano State government has dismissed reports circulating on social media that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf snubbed the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, during the Hawan Nasarawa Sallah durbar at Government House.

Daily Trust had reported how the governor was represented by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Jibril Isma’il Falgore, at the Durbar which held, on Sunday.

Some persons had misinterpreted it as a sign of the governor of snubbing the emir.

But in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Monday, the government described the claim as “false, unfounded, and deliberately concocted to misinform the public and create unnecessary tension.”

The statement explained that Governor Yusuf went to Lagos to attend “a strategic meeting” of Nigerian governors at the time of the Hawan Nasarawa, which coincided with the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

According to the government, the governor had formally communicated with the Emir and directed the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, alongside other senior officials, to receive him on his behalf.

It further noted that the governor had attended the Eid prayer led by the Emir of Kano, participated in the Hawan Daushe at Gaya Emirate, and made arrangements to personally receive the Emirs of Rano, Karaye, and Gaya.

He said senior government functionaries were delegated to represent him where scheduling conflicts arose.

“The relationship between the Kano State Government and the Kano Emirate Council remains cordial, respectful, and anchored on mutual commitment to sustaining peace, unity, and development in Kano State,” the statement added.

The government urged the public to disregard the report and rely on credible sources for accurate information.(Daily trust)
