Bruno Fernandes Premier League Player Of The Season
Bruno Fernandes has been voted the 2025/26 EA SPORTS Player of the Season, the first time he has won the accolade.
Fernandes has been in sensational form for Manchester United this season, and the driving force behind a resurgent Red Devils side that have secured a UEFA Champions League spot.
The Portuguese has scored eight goals and set up a further 20, directly contributing to 28 goals in 37 Premier League appearances to help Man Utd to third place.
His 20th assist of the campaign, for Bryan Mbeumo in a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest, moved Fernandes level with ex-Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyneand former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry for most assists in a season.
“I’m very happy for the assist and for the win, and to finish the season on a high,” Fernandes said after his record-equalling feat.
“I got to 20, let’s see – we have one more game! It’s the highest I’ve done in the Premier League so I am very happy with it.”
Fernandes could yet emerge as the Premier League’s all-time assist king should he set up a goal in Sunday’s final match of the 2025/26 campaign at home to Aston Villa.
The 31-year-old has written himself into the history books already, emulating David Beckham’s status as Man Utd’s top creator, who had held the previous record for the most assists by a Red Devils player in a single Premier League season, with a haul of 15 in the 1999/2000 campaign.
Overall, Fernandes has created 132 chances this season, the most in the Premier League and an incredible 43 chances more than the next-best, Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai.
His EA SPORTS March Player of the Month success equalled the record of six awards held by former United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo.
Fernandes was also named the Football Writers’ Association’s men’s Footballer of the Year – the first Man Utd player to win the men’s FWA award since Wayne Rooney back in 2010.
The Man Utd talisman wins the EA SPORTS Player of the wSeason award for the first time in his career, becoming the first Red Devil to claim the honour since Nemanja Vidic in 2010/11.
Fernandes topped an eight-man shortlist that included Arsenal’s Gabriel, David Raya and Declan Rice, Manchester City duo Erling Haaland and Antoine Semenyo, plus Brentford striker Igor Thiago, and Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White. (
