2027: Gov. Makinde emerges consensus APM presidential candidate
Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, on Saturday received a certificate of return as the consensus presidential candidate for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the 2027 elections.
A video of Mr Makinde waving his hands as he danced while receiving the certificate emerged on the internet on Saturday.
Mr Makinde’s political outing comes a day after the principal of Community High School, Esiele, in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Rachael Alamu, who was abducted alongside over 40 students and staff, called on the governor and the Nigerian government to rescue them.
“I’m here again to beg the government. Governor Seyi Makinde should dialogue with these people. They should not use force. The force they used yesterday has cost us so much,” Mrs Alamu said in tears.
She added: “In fact, one of us has been picked and they are going to kill him. Please, we want you to call them and dialogue with them so that our lives will be saved.”
Mrs Alamu’s plea comes 13 days after they were abducted. Another teacher, Michael Oyedokun, was beheaded in a terrorist den last week.
