The Kebbi State Police Command has launched a manhunt after armed men stormed the home of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in Yauri LGA and abducted his wife and son.

The attack happened around 4 a.m. on June 22 at the Low Cost Area residence of Alhaji Yusuf Sani Alhassan, the APC chairman in Yauri, according to security expert Zagazola Makama.

The gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, invaded the house armed with dangerous weapons and whisked away his wife, Nana Aisha Yusuf, 35, and his son, Sanusi Yusuf, 25. Both were taken from the same household.

Sources said the assailants fled into a nearby bush with the victims before security personnel arrived.

On receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer mobilised a joint team of police operatives and local vigilantes to the scene.

Police say efforts are ongoing to rescue the victims unhurt and track down the suspects.

The command assured the public that updates will be provided as investigations and rescue operations continue.
