Kogi varsity expels two students over ‘homosexuality’

The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara in Kogi state, has expelled two students for alleged involvement in gay practice.

In a statement issued by the department of public relations, the institution also rusticated four other students for alleged involvement in fighting on campus.

The punishment was approved at the 31st sitting of the university senate held at the faculty of law lecture theatre.

The disciplinary measures were taken based on recommendations from the students’ disciplinary committee.

In the letter signed by Eli Usman Gbadafu, the deputy registrar (academics), the institution stated that the disciplinary actions were taken in accordance with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook, Second Edition, as amended in 2025.

Some of the students include Onumoko Hamza, Abdulazeez Lukman Eneji, Favor Akowe, Simbiat Babamuharuna, Zainab Salami Omayoza, and Sukura Bukola.

The varsity also reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline, order and a conducive environment for teaching and learning.

The school authority warned that it would not hesitate to take decisive disciplinary action against any student found guilty of violating the rules and regulations of the university.

“Students are therefore advised to familiarise themselves with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook and conduct themselves in accordance with the established rules and regulations of the University,” the statement added. (TheCable)
