Riders earn N100,000 weekly on Chowdeck, says CEO

Femi Aluko, co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of ChowDeck, says bicycle delivery riders earn an average of N100,000 weekly on the platform.

Aluko spoke in an interview on Channels Television.

The CEO said some riders could make significantly more depending on the number of deliveries they complete and the distance covered.

According to Aluko, “riders are paid based on the distance they cover, making the job largely dependent on the volume of deliveries handled”.

“A rider who completes between 10 and 15 deliveries in a day could earn more than N100,000 in a week,” he said.

“This is a game of numbers. The more deliveries you do, the stronger you are. The more you’re able to cover, make more money, and cover more distance per kilometre.”

He said the opportunity has also attracted students who combine deliveries with their studies, particularly those who have access to bicycles.

“Most students maybe go to classes during the day, and then in the evening they come out with their bicycles to deliver,” Aluko said.

He added that some students use the income from deliveries to support their education, including paying school fees.

Chowdeck, a Nigerian delivery company, has expanded significantly since it began operations in 2021.

The company said it had more than 22,000 riders on its platform by the end of 2025, after doubling its rider network from more than 12,000 a year earlier. (TheCable)
