BREAKING: Atiku Appoints El-Rufai Into Campaign Council

Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has appointed former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai as Deputy Chairman of his Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The appointment was announced on Thursday as the ADC unveiled its campaign structure, with Kashim Ibrahim-Imam named Chairman and Senator Augustine Okwudiri Akobundu appointed Director-General and Campaign Manager. 

The council will oversee the ADC’s presidential campaign and mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 election. It will operate through six major directorates, with 30 directors assigned specific responsibilities. 

Other prominent figures named in the structure include Dele Momodu, who will oversee Media and Communications, and former Kogi State Senator Dino Melaye, who will be involved in contact and mobilisation. Economist and banker Mohammed Hayatudeen will coordinate the policy structure, while former CBN Deputy Governor Kingsley Moghalu is also listed on the policy team. 

Former Edo State Governor and former APC National Chairman John Oyegun will chair the Campaign Advisory Council. 

El-Rufai’s appointment places the former Kaduna governor in a senior position within Atiku’s campaign organisation as opposition parties intensify preparations for the 2027 presidential election.

The ADC said the campaign structure was deliberately designed to be lean, with clearly defined responsibilities and measurable outcomes.
