Carter Efe beats Speed Darlington, retains celebrity boxing title

Nigerian skit maker and boxer Carter Efe has defeated Speed Darlington by unanimous decision to retain his celebrity boxing title after four rounds.

Carter Efe secured the victory on the judges’ scorecards in the early hours of Friday, maintaining his unbeaten record in the celebrity boxing scene.

Speed Darlington entered the bout looking to claim the title, but Carter Efe emerged victorious after four rounds, with the judges unanimously ruling in favour of the defending champion.

Following his victory, Carter Efe said he plans to marry his girlfriend, Taylor Jasmine, before considering another boxing bout.

The champion, however, also revealed that he has ambitions of taking on bigger names in the sport, including former world boxing champion Floyd Mayweather.

“I want to fight with men, like Mayweather,” Carter Efe said.

His comment drew laughter when he was asked whether a fight with Mayweather could actually be arranged.

“Fight with Mayweather? Hell no. That ain’t happening,” came the response.

Carter Efe later thanked his supporters for their backing after being congratulated on his victory.

The bout was one of the headline attractions at the celebrity boxing event, which also featured reality TV star Phyna taking on actress Nkechi Blessing.

Phyna recorded a fourth round knockout victory over Nkechi Blessing, earning the championship belt and a brand new car after the fight.
