ACF Mourns Victims Of Maiduguri Mosque Bombing, Condemns Attack
The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed deep sorrow over the bomb attack on a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State, which occurred on Wednesday.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the forum condemned the attack in the strongest terms and mourned the lives lost in the incident.
National Publicity Secretary of the ACF, Prof. T.A. Muhammad-Baba, described the bombing as an act of terrorism and extended condolences to the families of the victims.
“We deeply regret this tragic incident and unequivocally condemn the attack. Our thoughts and prayers are with the deceased, and we pray for the peaceful repose of their souls. We also extend our heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims,” the statement said.
The forum also commiserated with those injured in the attack, wishing them a speedy recovery.
“We wish those injured a quick return to health,” it added.
ACF further extended its condolences to the Government and people of Borno State, as well as Nigerians at large, noting that the incident is a grim reminder that terrorism and insecurity remain major challenges confronting the country.
“This incident underscores the stark reality that the fight against terrorism and insecurity has not yet been won. The situation must not be allowed to continue unchecked,” the forum stressed.
The group recalled that in its Christmas message earlier, it had urged authorities to tackle the nation’s security challenges with renewed vigour and commitment.
It called for a concerted effort to eradicate terrorism and other criminal activities threatening peace and stability across the country.
“It is inconceivable that the country should be brought to its knees by these merciless merchants of terror. This is absolutely unacceptable,” the statement read.
Looking ahead, the ACF urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, especially in public places such as places of worship, markets and social gatherings.
“We must not allow anti-social agents of terror, both foreign and domestic, to claim any victory over our way of life,” it added.
