Cardi B awarded $24m in assault case, confronts reporter after verdict
Rapper Cardi B has emerged victorious in a high-profile assault lawsuit, with a court awarding her $24 million in damages. The case stems from an incident in which the Grammy-winning artist claimed she was physically attacked, leading to a prolonged legal battle.
The lawsuit was based on an incident that happened outside of a Beverly Hills doctor’s office in 2018, where the claimant, simply identified as Ellis, said Cardi B spat on her and assaulted her with fingernails.
But after less than an hour of deliberation, the jury ruled that Cardi B was not liable for assault, battery, negligence, false imprisonment, and purposeful infliction of mental distress.

Cardi B refuted the accusations throughout the trial, claiming that Ellis had followed her, recorded her on her phone, and infringed on her personal space.
Following the ruling, Cardi B was seen confronting a reporter covering the trial, highlighting her determination to control the narrative surrounding the case. Social media quickly reacted to the confrontation, with fans praising her for standing her ground while critics debated the interactions with the press.
The ruling not only represents a significant legal win for Cardi B but also sends a strong message regarding personal boundaries and accountability. The artiste, known for her outspoken personality and unapologetic approach, has repeatedly emphasized the importance of defending oneself both in and out of the courtroom.
