FG Declares Wednesday Nationwide Public Holiday
The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, 1st October 2025, as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulating all Nigerians at home and in the diaspora on the historic occasion.
In a statement signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Dr. Tunji-Ojo called on citizens to uphold the patriotic spirit, unity, and resilience that have sustained the nation since independence in 1960.
He also encouraged Nigerians to maintain faith in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on national rebirth, economic transformation, and collective prosperity.
The Minister expressed confidence that, with the cooperation of all Nigerians, the country would continue to grow stronger in peace, progress, and development.
He concluded by wishing Nigerians a happy and memorable 2025 Independence Day celebration.
