Ex-Kano Deputy Gov Gawuna Resigns From APC, ‘To Meet Kwankwaso’

The 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, has formally resigned his membership of the party.

In a resignation letter dated March 29, 2026, and addressed to the APC chairman in Gawuna Ward, Nassarawa Local Government Area, Gawuna described his decision as “voluntary and personal.”

“I hereby formally resign my membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC), effective March 29, 2026,” the letter read in part.

Gawuna, a former deputy governor of Kano State, expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunities accorded to him during his time as a member.

He, however, did not disclose his next political move.

His resignation comes amid growing political realignments in Kano State, where key actors have continued to shift alliances ahead of future electoral contests.

Sources close to the former deputy governor indicated that he is expected to hold a meeting with former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, at his Miller Road residence in Kano.

The development is seen as part of ongoing political manoeuvres in the state, which have intensified following recent defections and alignments among major political figures.
