Nigeria currently better off than years ago, says 2Baba
Innocent Idibia, the ace singer popularly known as 2Baba, says despite economic and security challenges, Nigeria is in a better condition than it was years ago.
The 50-year-old hitmaker shared his perspective on the state of the nation in a recent interview on ‘Chookmouth’ on Wazobia FM with media personality Yaw.
The conversation touched on Nigeria’s political landscape, with the host referencing his socially conscious classic ‘E Be Like Say,’ noting that the issues he sang about years ago still resonate in the country’s polittical climate.
In response, the music icon maintained that the nation has made gradual strides over time, saying, “we are better off than so many years ago, if you look at it”.
2Baba also spoke about his personal commitment to his homeland, vowing to continue “pushing himself” to contribute positively and represent Nigeria with pride on any platform.
Without providing specific details, he confirmed that he had once campaigned for a political cause but has since closed that chapter.
“I campaigned a while ago; I don’t think I want to go into that anymore,” he remarked.
2Baba punctuated his reflections with a brief rendition of one of his classic songs, using the lyrics to draw a connection between his past music and the present-day realities of leadership and struggle in Nigeria.
The singer is married to Natasha Osawuru, a Nigerian lawmaker. The couple wed in Abuja in 2025, following his separation from Annie Macaulay-Idibia.(TheCable)
