‘Prepare For One-Day Revolt Protest Over Killings, Hardship Under Tinubu’ – EndBadGovernance Movement Tells Nigerians
The #EndBadGovernance Movement in Lagos State has called on Nigerians to “arise, organise and mobilise” for a one-day nationwide revolt protest rally against “worsening insecurity, economic hardship, and anti-poor policies” under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
In a press statement issued on Friday, April 10, 2026, and signed by Hassan Taiwo Soweto and Oloye Adegboyega Adeniji, the group decried the “brutal slaughter” of thousands of Nigerians across several states in the country.
The group warned that the country is descending into chaos while political leaders remain disconnected from the suffering of citizens.
“The #EndBadGovernance Lagos State Chapter extends its deepest condolences to the families of the thousands of Nigerians who have been brutally slaughtered across the country by terrorists and armed gangs,” the statement read.
The group noted that particularly, entire communities in Plateau, Kaduna, Benue, Zamfara, Borno, and Kwara states, are being wiped out in a relentless wave of violence attacks by terrorists.
“We stand in solidarity with all victims and salute the courage and endurance of ordinary Nigerians who continue to survive under unbearable conditions,” the group added.
Beyond insecurity, the group blamed the Tinubu administration’s economic policies for plunging millions into poverty, citing fuel subsidy removal, rising fuel prices, and collapsing electricity supply as key drivers of hardship.
According to the group, “Nigeria today is bleeding,” with recurring attacks leaving hundreds of people dead across multiple regions. It accused the government of being “completely clueless” in addressing the crisis.
The group also criticised what it described as the “hypocrisy and insensitivity” of political leaders, singling out Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang for visiting attacked communities in an armoured vehicle.
“The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, reportedly visited attacked communities in an armored vehicle, protecting himself while the people he governs are left defenseless,” the group said.
It further took a swipe at President Tinubu, accusing him of failing to physically visit grieving communities.
“Even more disgraceful, the President chose to address grieving victims from the safety of an airport rather than stand with them in their communities. This is not just cowardice; it is a complete betrayal of leadership,” the group stated.
It added that the government appears “more preoccupied with retaining power in 2027 than with saving lives today.”
On the economy, the group condemned the government’s approach to fuel and energy policy, arguing that the handover of refining to private interests has forced Nigerians to pay exorbitant prices despite being an oil-producing nation.
“The deliberate policy of handing over fuel refining to private interests while abandoning public refineries has ensured that Nigerians pay exorbitant, internationally-influenced prices for fuel in an oil-producing country,” it said.
The group warned that the situation has crippled small businesses, increased the cost of living, and worsened hunger nationwide, further compounded by persistent power outages.
Declaring that “enough is enough,” the group called for immediate nationwide mobilisation across all sectors of society.
“We call on workers, traders, market women, students, artisans, and all oppressed Nigerians, irrespective of tribe or religion, including trade unions and civil society groups to begin immediate mobilization in communities, workplaces, campuses, and markets for a one-day nationwide mass protest rally,” the statement read.
The group stressed that the planned protest would be peaceful and held simultaneously in all state capitals, aimed at demonstrating widespread rejection of what it termed the “state of anomie” under the current administration.
It also announced plans to consult with trade unions, civil society organisations, and other pro-masses groups in the coming days to agree on a date for the protest.
“We call for the widest possible unity of all civil society groups, trade unions, students’ unions, faith-based groups and pro-masses organizations to make this peaceful nationwide protest rally a reality.
“Over the next few days, the #Endbadgovernance movement Lagos state would embark on consultations and series of meetings with progressive and pro-masses groups across the country at the end of which a date agreed by all for the one-day nationwide mass protest rallies will be announced,” the group stated.
The group urged the Nigerian working people and youth to stand firm and stay united.
“This is a defining moment. Silence and inaction will only embolden those who profit from our suffering. Nigerians must rise together, united, organized, and determined,” the group stressed.
