Police kill three bandits in Kebbi
The Kebbi State Police Command in the Kamba Division have neutralised three suspected Lakurawa bandits during a fierce gun battle in Dandi Local Government Area.
A statement made available to newsmen in the state on Friday by the spokesman of the command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said the incident occurred on Friday when a gang of suspected bandits stormed Gorun Yamma village.
“Acting swiftly on intelligence, Divisional Police Officer, Kamba, SP Mohammed Bello Lawal, mobilised a joint team of policemen and vigilantes to the scene.
“The security team engaged the bandits in a prolonged exchange of fire, resulting in the death of three suspects, while others escaped into the forest with gunshot wounds.
“A red, unregistered Honda motorcycle, popularly referred to as ‘Boko Haram’, was recovered at the scene.”
Commending the operation, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani, praised the gallantry of the Kamba police team, noting that their swift response averted what could have been another tragic attack on innocent residents.
The CP directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Birnin Kebbi, for further investigation.
He also reassured residents of the Command’s determination to rid the state of violent crimes while urging communities to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies.
Recall that in July, the police neutralised three bandits across five states.
The operations spanned across Taraba, Plateau, Adamawa, Nasarawa, and Niger states.(Punch)
